Herd wins 2017 Bimeda Herd of the year
Pictured above are Jack and Anne Morrison who recently received the excellent news that their CHATHAM herd had won the 2017 Bimeda UK sponsored NI British Blue Herd of the year competition, also taking the best large herd award.
Farming with eldest son David they founded their Chatham herd 30 years ago and helped pioneer the ultimate beef terminal sire breed in this country.
With a nationwide reputation for producing quality stock they have long enjoyed success at major shows and sales in NI and at Borderway Mart in Carlisle. Based on pure white cows the Chatham British Blue Herd produces white bulls that can sire blue and white beef calves. The type of bull farmers demand, especially those aiming to add value to calves from Holstein cows.
Pictured with Jack and Anne is CHATHAM KARL, a two year old white bull by Kersey Geronimo, KARL is being retained as a stock bull in the herd.
He has shown tremendous potential in his early show careeer - taking the Senior Champion ticket at the Pedigree Calf Fair at Balmoral last year and he was awarded the Reserve Championship ticket after winning his class at the Randox Antrim Show in July this year.
